Held Back?

Many times we get involved in our own lives and many things can hold us back from helping others. For me it can be things like work, school, and our own interests. However, nothing holds us back more than ourselves. Like Leob says, "success is unlikely if we fail to develop the will to change." Many times we make excuses or are too afraid to "step out of our comfort zone." Sometimes our fear of steping out comes from the size of what we think we have to accomplish. Ive gained knowledge from many sources, including from Leob, that small steps are the best way to takle big projects. Many times in school I would get huge porjects and I would be overehelmed and feel like theres a weight on my back. But I learned to take that weight and break it down piece by piece. Finally, I learnd from my faith. Jesus once said that a person who was impoverished and gave what little she could to people gave more than all those rich people who gave large amounts. This shows us that even if we do what little we can we still can help others out. As far as what I do to help people I dont often work at what im good at. When I help out at royal rangers I was never a leader as a kid when I was in there but I wished to develop that skill. Most of the time I don't help others with my skills but I help them and in turn learn new skills of my own. However, I think that the one skill i have that helps others is perseverence. I help, even if i don't completely know how, and I won't give up until I have accomplished that goal!

  1. I can definitely relate to your point. It is so common for us to hold ourselves back because we don't feel like what little we may be able to offer will make a significant impact towards our cause. We have become so accustomed to instant gratification that it's a challenge for people today to see that every little bit contributes to the overall, like bricks being placed to build a wall.
I really like the comparison to big school projects.. perfect example.

  2. I am so happy that you do not let those big projects hold you down. Perserverence is a wonderful skill and I am glad that it has helped you discover other skills as well. Keep setting those goals because you can continue pushing through to exceed each and every one!
