Chapter 4: Reflections
I think cynicism is a nasty, destructive, negative interest that affects everyone on the planet every day.
“we’re coming dangerously close to believing that nothing is possible, except for a nation of corruption and greed people in the media and politics should be promoting integrity. But they give us a sense that everyone is on the take, that everyone is out for themselves and working for a larger common good is impossible” –Bob Chase Education Association president.
We are spurred in the wrong direction when it comes to becoming involved in all that affects us, by media, politicians, bosses, business owners, even car sales men! The majority of the world allows themselves to be manipulated by cynicism from people of all levels of society.
Although, if we do not participate, if we do not get involved we allow those set upon manipulation to win, CEOs can steal more money from the government, National leaders can hoodwink their country and bankers can become rich from the “bail out”. We read headlines every day showing us the corruption and bad actions that somehow or another affect us all, and we think that we are too small and that THEY are to powerful, there is no point evolving ourselves or that what has happened is set in stone that nothing can change.

How has this concept affected me? I think better yet, how has it affected us all as a society? We no longer look to ourselves as having any power in a democratic society, where feudalism has been replaced with corruption of capitalism, which can have just as much power…
This is Nathaniel Chapman's post by the way :)
