U ARE A SIGN OF HOPE

As I walked into the beautiful Applebee's restaurant across 59th avenue and Peoria, I requested for a plate of delicious Italian dishes and recipes. It was the best of its kind; I suspired, as thought of what will become of my life without the active work of civil right activists who sacrificed their lives and freedom for our freedom and happiness. I thought of the privileges and gains that we all now enjoy from the suffering and loss of those activist who fought for all peoples to have equal rights. This is why the United States of America is a great nation and a truly free nation, as it cares not only for its citizens but for all humanity across the world.
Every venture we undertake makes a difference in the life of someone. Like the story of the man shaking a pecan tree, we actually don't know exactly when these changes or difference would come, but we do know that for sure that the results for our actions to improve the lives of others sends messages of hope that can keep a life going, put a smile on the face of someone, and elevate the Yoke off the shoulder of the common citizen by helping them take their own moral stands. This are the benefits that we all now enjoys as we now claim for gender equality, equal voting rights, educational equality (including the ability to have careers in addition to motherhood, or the right to choose not to have children), social, religious and economic freedoms. Those activists fought for these changes because they felt they had to do something by making a lasting change and this we must continue from where they stopped so as to pass it on to the next generation by making just one difference in the life of someone and our community at large because you are a sign of hope to someone. To leave a footprint, you must take a step for others to trace and emulate, just as we celebrate our freedom tracing the steps of those who made it possible for our freedom.

  1. Macbeth,
What I find most important about your blogs is the truth with which you present them. When you convey to us what you are thinking you not only provide your thoughts, but you also set the picture for where and when these thoughts occur. That mental image is helpful for me because it helps me to see things the way you see them; your stories become more relatable.
From this blog, I like how you have chosen to take a look at what activism has done for the past and the present and where it needs to continue for the future.
