It is important to be aware of other individuals stories. That doesn't mean that we have to know everything, just generally know the basics and where to go to get more details. The best example I can think of is simply reading the newspaper. It's not hard to find a story involving social justice, just skimming the newspaper or snoozing through the news. Without hearing what other people do and how it effects the world around them, we wouldn't even know where to start or how to determine what may be possible. Particularly seeing positive stories is helpful because they spark a new hope in your own dreams while negative ones can help keep your goals within reason.

As for my own life, I would share everything that I think could be relevant. I would include my early life such as being born eleven weeks early as well as being raised as an only child. Later learning that I have three half siblings, along with a handful of moves made my growing up rather interesting. As for my community involvement, that only just started last semester. Previously, I did not see how doing community service might impact the community, however I have been corrected. Even just seeing smiles on someones face is more than enough to make a few hours working worth while. I would put a large emphasis on last semester's service learning project and how much it showed me that a little work can go a long way.
